Compassionate End-of-Life Care
for Pets in Rocky Mount, NC

Saying goodbye to a beloved pet is one of the hardest moments a family can face. During this time, having a compassionate veterinary team by your side can make all the difference. The love and loyalty your pet has shared with you never truly leaves—it becomes part of the memories you carry forward.

As pet owners and lovers, our caring veterinarians and team approach end-of-life care and pet euthanasia with patience, kindness, and deep respect for the bond you share with your pet.

Our goal is to support you through this difficult time while helping create a peaceful, dignified experience for your pet.

A Calm, Private Experience

We understand that these moments deserve privacy and quiet. When you arrive for an end-of-life appointment, our team will guide you through a private entrance so you don’t have to wait in the main lobby.

You and your pet will be brought directly into our comfort room, a space designed to give families time together in a calm, supportive setting. When you feel ready, you can simply ring the doorbell in the room, and the doctor will come in. When your pet has peacefully passed over the rainbow bridge, we will offer you additional time for your goodbyes.

After the appointment, our team will escort you out privately so you don’t have to walk back through the hospital.

Thoughtful Details That Matter

Our team focuses on creating an environment where families can spend meaningful time with their pets. This may include small comforts such as special treats and a quiet setting where you can say goodbye at your own pace.

In some situations, families have chosen to say goodbye outside in a peaceful setting on the hospital grounds. When possible, we do our best to accommodate requests that help make the experience more comfortable for you and your pet.

To help you focus on your pet during the visit, our team will handle paperwork and payment in advance.

Support When You Need It Most

Making decisions about end-of-life care can feel overwhelming. Our veterinarians are here to answer questions, talk through your pet’s quality of life, and help guide you with compassion and honesty.

We can also connect families with grief resources and support organizations if that would be helpful during this time. One resource many families find helpful is the Argus Institute for Families and Veterinary Medicine.

Care for Every Family

You do not need to be an existing client of Coats Veterinary Hospital to schedule an end-of-life appointment. Families needing support during this time who do not have an established veterinarian nearby will always be welcomed and cared for at Coats.

Our team welcomes both current and new families with the same level of compassion and respect.
