Dog & Cat Boarding
in Rocky Mount, NC

Planning a trip and need a home away from home for your pet? At Coats Veterinary Hospital, our boarding spaces are designed to feel less like a kennel and more like a cozy retreat, with cottages for dogs and condos for cats.

Our team of animal lovers focuses on making your pet’s stay comfortable, safe, and engaging while you’re away. Because boarding takes place within a veterinary hospital, trained professionals are nearby if anything unexpected arises during your pet’s stay.

Dog Boarding – Cottage Stays

Dogs staying with us relax in our “Cottages @ Coats,” climate-controlled spaces designed to give pets room to stretch out and settle in.

Each cottage includes:

  • A spacious 7-foot by 5-foot boarding area
  • A raised dog bench
  • An orthopedic bed for comfort
  • Plenty of room even for larger breeds

Throughout the day, dogs enjoy multiple outdoor excursions and stimulating activities. Each dog also receives enrichment during their stay, including:

  • Two 15-minute activity blocks daily
  • A treat-filled Kong to enjoy during their visit
  • A special daily treat while you’re away

Our resort team can administer oral medications up to two times per day at no additional cost. More complex care may fall under our medical boarding services.

Cat Boarding – Private Condos

Cats stay in a separate boarding area designed with their comfort in mind. Each cat enjoys their own two-room condo where they can stretch out, relax, and observe their surroundings.

Each cat condo includes:

  • A hideaway box for privacy
  • Soft Sherpa bedding
  • Hammocks and elevated resting areas
  • Dedicated playtime outside the condo
  • We also use Feliway diffusers to help create a calm, feline-friendly environment.

Medical Boarding

Some pets require additional monitoring or medical support while their families are away. Medical boarding is available for pets with health conditions that require closer observation.

Common reasons pets may need medical boarding include:

  • Heart disease
  • Diabetes
  • A history of seizures

Medical boarding is supervised by a veterinary assistant, so your pet is monitored by trained professionals who can alert the veterinarians if anything unusual arises. This option is available for existing clients or for pets who complete an evaluation with our veterinary team beforehand.
